Belief without proof.
I’m not particularlie religious. I don’t believe in a creator that loves us and cares what happens to us. This doesn’t mean though, that I don’t have faith. I think faith is probablie one of the most important things we can have. Faith in what?
Lots of things. People and life and happiness.
“I think the future deserves our faith.” ~ John Green (Paper Towns)
And the thing is that if you haven’t got faith, you’re afraid. Some things are impossible to know, so you have to believe. You have to accept that you aren’t psychic and you can’t see tomorrow and that it will still happen. That good things will happen and life will go in a direction that you are happie with. And if you’re afraid that can’t happen. If you’re afraid you can’t go anywhere.
It’s that same terror that grips you as a child in the dark. You don’t want to move because something terrible might happen so you sit in misery and fear. But if you have faith, faith that monsters in the dark won’t get you, or faith that if the monsters do come that you are strong enough to fight them, then you can find the courage to move forward.
There’s a book and it says “faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love”
But it’s wrong. Faith and Hope. Those are the things you can’t live without. Faith and Hope to push you onwards, and upwards. Faith an Hope to lead you where you want to go. Faith and Hope to take you to love. But first of all, faith and hope.
